The ‘Earn As You Learn’ Scheme designed for our Crew and is the on-the-job part of the programme where you will gain the skills and knowledge you need to do your job and work in our restaurants – this is designed to ensure our Crew get the right start from the very beginning. Develop and master core skills for cooking perfect burgers and fries.
You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your new skills and knowledge and earn pay rises after each certification.
This is the first step into leadership development, focussing on people skills alongside continued development of core operational skills.
When you are on the QC programme you will spend the first 3 months learning all about the role and the following 3 months living the role of a QC Member on the line – you will start to view the line in a way you have never seen it before.
Active self-reflection and discovering the type of leader we want to be through our communication, mindset and leadership style.
The Shifting Gears programme designed for our Shift Managers is a 2-day workshop where you will take part in fun and engaging learning experiences to put into practice in your store – on completion of the workshop and passing and assessment you’ll be ready for your Black Shirt and the next step in your career as a Shift Manager.
The workshops will include active self-reflection and discovering the type of leader we want to be through our communication, mindset and leadership style.

Developing functional and leadership skills to set ourselves, our teams and stores up for success. As Assistant Manager you’ll be able to attend a series of workshops - all designed to help you further your career with Five Guys.
The High Five programme is for our newly promoted General Managers and is a series of 4-day workshops focussing on authentic leadership combined with strategic skills, developing skills in innovation and looking at the bigger picture.
Once you have completed these workshops, you’ll be able to put your learning into practice in your store to help you get the best out of your Crew.
The Senior Leadership programme is all about customised development for our Senior Leaders in Operations and the Support Office – you can make the programme work for you, own your development and use your skills to develop your people.
The events held for the programme cover very niche leadership topics, and groups tend to be smaller so content can be more focussed and tailored to specific development needs.
The Women in Leadership programme focuses on female leaders within Five Guys. The topics covered are specific to differences, challenges and experiences women face in leadership positions, with a mixture of women-only and mixed gender events to encourage enhanced understanding and collaboration amongst all leaders in our business.
